Study A: Basic Consultation………
This is referred to as a “walk through”. Our consultant will walk the primary areas of the client’s residence. Our consultant will then discuss the general accessibility issues specific to the physically challenged and/or elderly individual’s needs. This access study may be helpful:
- When preparing for the arrival of a physically challenged and/or elderly individual, who is planning to reside temporarily in your home.
- For those individuals who are thinking of purchasing or remodeling a home and need a professional opinion on accessibility issues.
- When changes in medical condition require information regarding accessibility options.
Study B: Basic Modification……………………………………………………………
This is a written report of Access Study A: Basic Consultation, and is intended for:
- The individual preparing to transition from a healthcare facility to the home.
- The initial arrival home from a healthcare facility. Access Study A addresses the basic areas of the residence (i.e., bathroom, sleeping area).
- The healthcare provider (i.e. physician, therapist, nursing home, etc.) who desires insight into the patient’s home environment, in order to be able to provide a more focused healthcare service.
Study C: Modification & Specification………………………………………………..
This is an extensive written report that:
- Includes Access Study B: Basic Modification.
- Addresses accessibility to additional living areas of the home, which may be used occasionally by the physically challenged and/or elderly individual.
- Indicates the most common accessibility challenges.
- Offers general diagrams of suggested standard building practice corrections.
- Is useful when seeking estimates from remodeling contractors.
Study D: Modification, Specification & Functionality………………………………
This is an extensive and very comprehensive assessment that:
- Includes Access Study C: Modification & Specification.
- Addresses the accessibility aspect of the client’s living accommodations as well as the functionality of the living areas. For example, the height of electrical receptacles, appliance placement and design, etc…
- Is ideal for establishing independent living conditions for the physically challenged and/or elderly individual.
- Focuses on the individual’s unique limitations.
- Provides written specifications for the suggested alterations, including diagrams showing standard accessibility guidelines.
- MEDAccess, Inc. recommends reviewing with our consultants.
